Devon County Masters at Arms 2025


Commences Sunday 10th January 2025









Masters at Arms trophies for male and female fencers will be awarded for the best combined results by a Devon fencer across all three weapons of the Devon County Championships.


Open to any fencer aged 13 or over on the day of the Epée competition.


Those who do not reside or fence in Devon may enter all three weapons at the reduced fee, but will not be eligible for the Master at Arms title.


All eligible fencers will receive South West Regional Ranking points


Epée: Sunday 19th January 2025, Check-in 09:45 -10:15, start fencing 10:30 am

Venue: St. Luke’s School, Harts Lane, Exeter, EX1 3RD


Foil: Sunday 23rd February 2025, Check-in 09:45 -10:15, start fencing 10:30 am

Venue: West Exe School, Hatherleigh Road, Exeter, EX2 9JU


Sabre: Sunday 16th March 2025, Check-in 10:15 -10:45, start fencing 11:00 am

Venue: St. Luke’s School, Harts Lane, Exeter, EX1 3RD


In each weapon:

▪ One seeding round of poules will be followed by full Direct Elimination tableaux.

▪ Depending on entry for both genders, the seeding round may be combined.

▪ Medals for each gender will be awarded to the top four overall, the best-placed Devon fencer as Devon County Champion, the best Veteran (aged over 40 on 1st January 2025), and the best Cadet (aged under 17 on 1st January 2025).

▪ Mixed Plate competitions will be included if time permits, but will not count towards the Masters at Arms.


The Masters at Arms standings will be calculated using the Regional Ranking points earned in each weapon, to take account of the relative strength of field in each one.


These are qualifying events for the Devon County Team.


If you are selected to represent Devon, entry to these events gives free entry to the Excalibur Inter-County Competition. (Date and venue subject to confirmation).


Current membership of British Fencing at Compete level is required for all fencers.

Fencers must use at least 800N plastrons and 350N jackets and breeches.


Tea and coffee will be available. There are no refreshment facilities at these venues.
